Single AAA light?

Looking at getting a single AAA light. Right now, the best one that sticks out to me is the Preon 1, but am wondering what else good, bright, small AAA lights are out there that is similar?

I've probably missed a few, but all these are 1 AAA lights with a high power LED.

I agree. The peak eiger looks pretty awesome for a AAA. I like that you can choose between body styles!

I have narrowed it down to either the Preon 1 or the Fenix LD01...

How is the pocket clip on the LD01? It seems kind of flimsy based on the pictures.... What would you recommend between the two? Thanks again!

LD01 on my key chain or in pocket dont like clips on that small of a light
Do not have a Preon so cant compare
From what I recall the LD01 clip was fairly tight but still a clip on type clip
I like the modes, the LD01 starts in med, low you can read with and high good amount of light for AAA
If your the I must preserve my night vision type (with a light that defaults to med and low is well above 1/2 a lumen) you may not like the LD01

I find the LD01 clip - for a light of that size - pretty good: it stays firm and haven't had a problem with it. I can highly recommend it.
Can't say anything about the Preon as I don't have it. If you need flashing modes, it might be the light for your.

For a general purpose light, I'd rather have a light that starts on medium and then goes to low than the other way around.
If you need something to absolutely preserve night vision, get a red Inova Microlight.

Not sure if the LOD is regulated or if that matters, don`t think it is. Some are...the Rofis ER10 AAA 85 lumen light comes to mind. Don`t know if it`s any good though, as not to much info on it around here.

iTP A3 EOS
I've carried one every day for the last few years and use it every day. Holds up great, perfect modes and beam for the typical day to day tasks (I use mine at work to inspect industrial equipment). ~$20 The name has changed recently but I like the older version better and it is still available.

My EDC is the Olight i3 EOS (virtually identical to the iTP light). It's a 3-mode twisty, high = 80 lumens. Also, it comes with a removable pocket clip and tiny Allen wrench in case you want to remove the clip. :thumbsup:

EDIT: $20 through Amazon. It's a great light. Keychain duty for me.

It is more money, but the DQG III Titanium is now my favorite light. It is one of the smallest AAA's, it has a good compromise between flood and throw for a small light, the two levels are perfect, with low working well indoors and high great for outdoor use. It seems to be reliable so far and has a great easy to use UI. For me the size is a big deal. Only pure flood beam lights come close to its size. I don't like having tons of stuff on my keys or in my pocket.

I have tried most of the above mentioned lights plus many more and this one is the best for my uses.

I work on cars and need something I can have in my front shirt pocket so when I need to see something quick I don't have to go lookin for my big lights. I have been ABUSING my Streamlight Microstream 5-6 days a week for the last 3 years and it still works.

I know some of u guys think Streamlights are kinda cheap but this thing has held up above and beyond my expectations. I've dropped it in coolant, oil, and every where else. If this was a 100$ + light I wouldn't even bring it in the shop to use. I like just using it as a tool and not worrying about it, just wipe the grease of and put it back in my pocket. Just sayin.

+1 for the ITP A3 EOS as the other 3 above. Great little dependable AAA light. I have owned one for a little over a year with out problems. Really bright on a 10440 li-ion but does heat up quick on high mode.

How aobut a maratac AAA? They have all sorts of variants as well, I picked up the copper one and will hopefully have it by thursday.

My Klarus Mi10 has been awesome. I load a lithium AAA into it, and it runs for freekin ever. The high is 80 lumens, nice for a key chain light, and it has multiple brightness levels. Its taken a real beating, and never hiccuped. Ironically, I 've used it a lot to light camera shots of other lights...so when I do beam shots, I do a lead shot of the light itself as a "marker", so I know what the beam shots are going to be of...and I use the Mi10 on a low setting to shine on the light to be beamshot....so I can see it in the viewfinder, etc.

Its about the size of a AAA battery, very inconspicuous, but ~ 3x brighter than a buddies surefire.
