Single battery light options

What are some single battery light options? I'm trying to fit it into the coin pocket on my jeans or onto my keys. Ive really just looked at single cr123 lights not really aa or aaa lights since there is so many to look at.

So far I've looked into the eagletac d25c mini and the 4sevens cr123. I light the out put of the eagletac but the size of the 4/7s. What are some other lights to look into

Hi, personally I'd probably want slightly smaller myself.

I haven't yet bought, but I'm quite taken with and will be buying the Klarus MiX6. Very compact light and good output for it's power source: link removed
It uses a AAA battery.

If you want smaller they even do a AAAA powered one called a MiX5:link removed

Other small lights I know of are the 4Sevens Quark Mini CR2:link removed

However if it is a CR123A powered flashlight you fancy, then I too like the EagleTac D series (I've just ordered the D25LC2 myself). And the 4Sevens Quark Mini 123 is nice offering the same performance as the CR2 powered one but with longer run times in a slightly bigger package.

The Nitecore D11, D11.2 and the EX11.2 are nice little lights. Only problem is the UI is complex, but once you've used it for awhile it's not that bad. Just keep the user manual close by untill you become used to it.

Fenix LD01 - AAA (XP-G R4). Clips into my jeans coin pocket perfectly. Goes everywhere with me as EDC or as backup with my other lights.

It's a 3 mode twisty:

26 lumen for 3hrs
3 lumen for 27hrs
72 lumen for 1.5hrs
...in that order.

Thinner than a tube of chapstick and just a bit longer. Light as air with a lithium aaa. Definitely gets the job done!

The ld01 is almost $40 like the quark and the eagletac. Is it worth that even though I lose half the brightness. Can the eagletac or the quark use rechargeables?

Of course, most here would recommend them (Eneloops) as they have better output than alkalines for the current draw of the higher modes, and won't leak acid destroying your light.

I like the Quarks and Zebralights in single AA - one of the most important things for me in a small single cell are good low low modes like moonlight, for hundreds of hours of runtime. In a AAA, I also have a 4-7s Preon Revo SS, which can do 60hrs or 80 lumens, but it's been discontinued (although there's teasers out there for new replacement).

what are eneloops? are they like that type of battery that so much car has to be taken care of

Sanyo Eneloop, its a Low-Self-Discharge (LSD) Ni-MH rechargeable, commonly in AA & AAA sizes, its recommended over here for its low internal resistance, meaning it can supply higher current output to feed those power hungry high power flashlights compared to normal Alkaline battery.

so those arent offered in cr123 for like the d25c or quarkmini? are the other types of rechargeable cr123 very high maintenance or should i look into getting a aa light so i can run eneloops

If you looking at eagletac d25c and q.mini123 take a look as well at olight i1/i1 stainless. Since you gonna carry it on pocket, i would strongly recomended i1. It has strongest clip retention/grip on pocket at least comparing with eagletac d series and nitecore EX11. You can also adjust the clip retention by loosen the clip screw.

As for EX11 i've seen 2 Flashaholic EX11's broken in less than 4 month ( not hard use ) and it has same problem the thread somehow cracked. So you would want stay away from Nitecore at the moment.

the i1 only has 3 modes? is it able to run rechargeable

Yes its only has 3 mode without hidden flashing mode like D25C. But if you find you will likely need the flashing modes ( strobe,sos,beacon ) maybe the i1 is not for you. Tested my i1 with AW RCR battery, its works well without any issue. But with its small head size dont run high mode too long, cause it will damage the LED / Driver.

Would I be better of going with a AA light to be able to run eneloops?
