Single cell tank like flashlight

First off I'd like to say hi as a new user to the forum having loitered in the shadows for what seems like forever. I'm based in the UK and looking for my next flashlight purchase with the following requirements;
Must have Tir optic.Must be single cell 123 or aa (between these 2 - 123 preferred)
Must be tank like build. Don't want another paper thin wall flashlight (d25a clicky springs to mind)
Must have a long run time on low (5 plus hours) with at least 100 lumens on high. Not bothered about disco modes but if they exist it's not a deal breaker.
Must have clicky tail switch. Don't want twisty or magnetic ring.
I'm aware already of the surefire e1b and the Armytek C1/A1 but wondered if there is anything else I'm missing. There's obviously a big jump in price between these 2 and I was hoping there might be something in between.PS I'm painfully aware of the HDS Ra clicky which looks very nice and if I was going top dollar it would be a toss up between this and the surefire.Many thanks for reading and any input appreciated

Id go with the HDS Clicky.

(I'm a very happy owner of a HDS Rotary 250 myself-it's been fantastic since I received it in January.)

Stock HDS does not use TIR.

Might want to look at LensLight (Mini)... ?

Elzetta is coming out with the Alpha this summer, but it is not exactly TIR, but uses an optic, and built like a tank. Lifetime warranty, etc. If you don't have to have 100 lumens, you might also consider the Surefire E1L at 5.5 hours on max and 40 hrs on low. High is 90 surefire lumens, which is likely more. It does have a greenish tint though. I like mine.

I'd say Peak, but you will have to give up on the clicky and be satisfied with momentary only, or twist for constant.

Or get an old M30 (Malkoff) and build a 3P clone.

I think he meant an older Malkoff M30 drop-in in a 3P or clone.

But OP wanted a high & low output setting ....

I guess another way to do it could be M30, VME bezel, E1 body, and McE2S tailswitch :thinking:

The MD1 has the "clicky" switch that OP prefers, however.

I like everything about it apart from the low mode which is anything but low. I had heard talk of armytek revising the model to incorporate a 3rd mode at a sub 10 lumen low but this doesn't seem to have happened.

If you are interested in using a single primary 123 cell, I've developed a battery vampire driver that will work great and kill your cell dead, with good brightness. The regular copperhead driver has a low voltage cutoff that is not very bright with primaries but is for li-ion instead. You could be the test case if you are interested. Let's take discussion to the copperhead thread for it...

Being a forum novice how do I do that? I've glanced at the copperhead thread I think. Do I just need to add a request in a post on there. I'm thinking that I would like the single 123 45 degree optic with the high cri emitter and mode memory if possible. I've already got some solarforce bits to Lego to it.

As for the battery vampire I already use li-ion rechargeables so prefer the brighter runtimes and don't need a driver for primaries. Thanks for the consideration though.

Hi Font, OK, for you the regular li-ion driver would be perfect. I just did not want to derail your thread into a copperhead discussion if you wanted other suggestions. I will add you to the list and you can confirm when the new thread comes out. Cheers.
