Sinple electronics question

If I can get the plug out of a infinity ultra and could get to the leads on the led even if I have to destory the led,could I add 3 leds to the leads and get a brighter light.I know this might sound dumb, but I know nothing about electronics.

If the infinity uses voltage boost regulator, probably, if the ckt is capable of supplying triple the current. No way to tell unless you know the circuit the infinity is using. I know this is an indefinite answer but that's my bestest guess /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif It's probably not worth the effort to try to put 3 5mm LED's in there. Might be better off using a Luxeon.

I have made a 4 LED cluster before and the beam is a lot smoother and brighter than that from a single LED. Ultra-G uses the standard ZLT unit, it will work well with 3 3mm Nichias. You can put 3 LEDs in parallel.

A standard Infinity Ultra puts out 66ma at the LED. If your LEDs have same vf, they should be getting 22ma each if you wire them parallel.

So if the infinity puts out 66 ma.Holsfelt has 10000 mcd white leds that are rated at 3.4-4 vdc @ 20 ma If I take the
old led out and I add three of these I should be able to come up with a one aaa mod two thirds brighter than a ultra.
Guys I may be getting close to my first mod here.

LedsASAP, interesting about CMG using the ZLT in their ultra. The ZLT has such a wide range in their reference voltage (14mV min to 24mV max), I wonder how they can get consistency. +/- 26% is quite large for me, though I have built two of those circuits driving 3 nichias in parallel and a Luxeon, and have been happy with them.

OOOh, neat. This is interesting information, where does it come from?

I assume this is at 1.5 Volts in (it changes quite a bit with input), where current in is about 230 mA on average...345 mW in. Assuming a Vf of 3.6 Volts (273 mW), meaning it's 273/345 or 69% efficient.

My understanding is those values are min and max---most of the ZXSC300 would have the nominal 20mV value. Those odds will probably get screened off by the product test department /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
