Small Backup LED?

I'm looking for a small, backup led for my duty belt. I have an x5, which I love, but I'm looking for a small spot. I want it small( the smaller the better)because my duty belt is running out of real estate, Battery Efficient(but NOT a rechage), and Cost effcient. It does not have to be able to burn retina out, since it's only a back up, but somthing brighter than the the X5 (Although I've used it on traffic Stops and it works great) Thanks for the input

Inova T1. Much brighter then the X5, built like a tank, tiny, one battery, runs about 1.5 hours in regulation, HAIII. Great light. Cost is around $35

The Inova T2 is rather long but is relatively thin. 2 batteries, slightly brighter then the T1 but will run almost 6 hours in regulation. Cost is around $45

Bright small and good runtime for a single cell. Quite bright too.

INOVA T2

Under 1" diameter, fits nicely in a narrow holster.
Spot beam with excellent throw.
Over 5 hours runtime. Probably many weeks as a backup.
Bright enough to definitely get someone's attention if needed.
Excellent clickie tailcap switch.
Great texture on body-works well with gloves or if wet.
Very rugged-you'll know the first time you handle it.

The T1 is much shorter, but you give up a little output and a lot of runtime.

The Fenix sounds like exactly what you are looking for. Compared to the X5, it has much more of a spot type beam. Tint and brightness are both superior. Much smaller, and uses a common cell. Try it- you'll like it. If you don't, you can send it to me ;).

I was going to mention the T1 as well, but aside from the switch, I really feel like the Fenix trumps it due to both the battery type and size- even though it uses a larger battery, the Fenix is MUCH smaller, whereas the T1 is around the same size as the X5. Brightness and runtime are more or less a draw, and most people prefer the Fenix beam characteristics over the TIROS, although you do say a spot is what you are looking for.

Aleph2 is rather expensive but it surve your work very well.2 steps light work great for me. 1xcr123a battery should go on with plenty light for 1.5-2 hours before go to moon mode.

While I agree with the Fenix & Inova T2 suggestions - what's wrong with a newstyle Surefire KL1 (3 watt, with GREAT throw & flood with the beamshaper and good runtime as well?)...definitely small and of course "built like a tank" with the lifetime warranty to boot?

I agree totally but was trying to keep my price down as much as possible since I am sure our LEO friend has to buy it with his own money and it will not be a primary. For this reason I think the T1/T2 work out very nicely as the are extremely well made and should handle the abuse while at the same time being relatively inexpensive as far as higher end flashlights go.
