Looking at getting an Lp2 with the XML drop in. Would like to order everything including battery and charger all from the same site. Where is a good place online you would recommend dealing with? Do I need the protected version of the 18650?

Thanks,
Glen

First off its called a L2P. If you don't know wether or not you need to buy a protected version of a 18650 battery then you need to do some more research (for your own health/safety).

sbflashlights is good if you want a US dealer. solarforceflashlight-sales is sometimes cheaper, but ships from China.

LilKevin, everybody has got to start somewhere.

gglockner, I've heard positive things about sbflashlights. However, they don't have as complete a package available as Solarforce-sales, with regards to batteries. While on the topic of batteries, you don't need to use protected cells, but for a few extra bucks I'd say it's a good idea.

Last time I checked Lighthound carried Solarforce hosts, Nailbender dropins, AW batteries and the Pila IBC chargers. I've ordered from them a few times with excellent results.

I made that move, good idea!

I ended up going with the Thrunite TN12 instead. Good price and I like it's features. Was looking for a good thrower. I know you get what you pay for, but for the price I got a complete flashlight for the price of a nailbender drop in. Xtar WP2 charger and a couple Panasonic type batteries to top things off. All for under $100.

I've been looking at the Solar Force line of lights as well although now I am taking a hard look at the Thrunite TN12 now. Let us know how you like it.

Perhaps his way of researching was to ask the ?.
In hopes that someone enlightened would be helpfull and tell him.

Given the cost difference, i see no reason not to get a protected battery.. at least as a first one. Should he find a need where he needs a REALLY high draw, he can buy an unprotected later; after he is used to the potential issues with any 18650 battery. The benefits (over/under current protection, short protection) is worth the $2-3 extra; you should still be mindful of the voltage, but its a great start.

For less than $100 you could have had two (or more) solarforce lights with drop-ins and a few batteries if you can wait a couple weeks for shipping from China from solarforde-sales. The new P1 is an awesome and very small P60 light. I like the yellow. Their drop-ins are so-so; never had one fail, but they are not driven very hard. But better runtime and no worries about circuit-protection batteries.

just got my host, havn't ordered any drop-ins yet.

looking to order a 500 lumen incan.

But i was taking the bezel ring out and i cross-threaded it putting it back in.

oh well, now its jammed. At least its jammed all the way in so the lens doesnt rattle around:crazy:

I noticed the threads on mine are not squared off, in fact they are sharp.

For <$11. shipped im not complaining.Just need to be more carefull with the next one.

I've ordered a L2P host and Solarforce XM-L drop in from SBflashlights before. They're good and recommended since they're "local" (in the US), so shipping took about 2-3 day to get the parts.

I've also ordered a L2P host and Solarforce XM-L drop in from an Ebay seller who was recommended on here, and he's based out of China and ships from there. I did save a few bucks per each item (host, drop in, accessories) but shipping too approx 7-8 business days (just under 2 weeks). The parts were exactly the same as what SB sells, specifically the drop in and the host... only I got a different color L2P host.

If you want to save as much money as possible, find a reputable seller from China who carries everything you need. If you want faster shipping and are willing to pay a few bucks more per item, then SBflashlights worked well for me. As for the 18650 batteries, I just feel better about buying them locally (in the US) from US sellers/makers/distributors instead of buying them from china.

I pretty much only order from solarforce-sales when they run a sale. It's factory direct and the prices can't be beat. Add them to Facebook, they list their sales up on there. I just spent like 40 bucks on lights I entirely didn't need the other day because I got some ridiculous deals and had a pair of P60 drop ins I also didn't need on order from Kai

Received my TN12 and it is one bright flashlight! The size and function is just great. I can operate the twist with one hand if needed, but for the most part it will be left on high for now. I find that it has been reviewed as a thrower, but even with the SMO reflector it lights up the area like a flood light. Still waiting on my recharageables, so I went with some CR123 in it for now. I think my next flashlight will have a larger diameter reflector with a slightly shorter body on it. Waiting for the day when a single AA will kick out 500 lumens.
