Solarforce L2-S4 clicky replacement

Hi all,

I have several of these on my lights-my fat fingers love the cigar grip and size, but I hate the feel of the squishy switch. Has no real audible feedback. Here's a pic:

S4 is on the left. I'm looking for a replacement switch only. I don't need the whole thing with circuit board etc. On the right is the S6 guts for comparison.

I use these for my triples so I need at least 3A capability.

What I do not need: McClicky-too expensive. Ebay or China links-screw shipping times. Fetie-too expensive, not available.

I would be happy if someone here has any U.S. based manufacturers or parts dealers that you know about. I could use some S6 guts and make an adapter to make the actuator the same height, but that's overkill IMO.

Ideas?

I too really like the aesthetics and feel of the L2-S4, so I would also really appreciate a solution for your perfect description of the switch's lack of tactile feedback. You mention that a McClicky is too expensive, was that a generic statement or is there a McClicky upgrade specifically for the L2-S4?

I also needed to pass along to you that according to one of our major U.S. based Solarforce product suppliers, Solarforce is no longer going to be making this model...bummer!

I'll be trying out the new L2-S8 with my own solution for a cigar-style grip ring that works really well. In lieu of a guts solution to the L2-S4, if you want, PM me for details on how to create the cigar grip ring that works extremely well with all my lights that don't have a tactical grip ring. If you like it as much as I do, you could take photos, that I don't have the capacity to do at the moment, to show others.

In the meantime, I would appreciate knowing if a McClicky has been designed specifically for the L2-S4!

The LS6 forward switch has a nice clicky action to it, and it's internals are easy to put into the stock L2 tailcap housing. About $10.00 shipped from lighthound. Should easily handle 3A.

Oh, bummer! Glad I hoarded some. The McClicky remark was general... no special one made. I'm gonna try an S-6 switch ad put some kind of extension on the actuator. The S-6 has nice tactile action.

I really would like your info on how you do a grip ring though! I want to try out an S-8 also but can't find any at a U.S. dealer-no oversea shipping for me. What I've been doing is using a grip ring from Olight and lengthening the spring on lights I use it on BTW.

Here is a ring from lighthound that will work. EDIT: It works even better with the L2P special edition body and tailstanding tailcap.

A PM has been sent regarding the grip ring. As for the L2-S8, I don't think it's available stateside quite yet.

I thought abot that one, but I've been using my homemade grip-ring for a while now, and I really like it. If Rich agrees to try it out and likes it, he can take some photos, where I don't have that capacity at the moment. But I really appreciate that suggestion. In fact on my next LH order tomorrow, I might pick one up just to try it out. Thanks agan!

So was anyone able to improvise with this S4 tailcap ??? I found a setup with L2M body, A001 bezel, L2M bezel ring and this tailcap to be rather cool looking and was plannng to purchase Thrunite XML single mode to run it on 1x18350 IMR...

Does anyone knows what's the safe amp current that S4 original fluffy switch can withstand... would I be able to run something that draws around 2A (like Moddoo Triple XPG on single li-ion) ???
