thanks

Lighthound sells solarforce, haven't ordered a light from them but have ordered several cells, a charger, spacers, etc. from them with no problems and fast shipping

i ask because i have run across a couple of sites that are clearly selling product at very very low prices. i suspect they are not legit, so i am looking for known reputable sites

A link can't be given in this sub forum as per the banner at the top of the page; dealer names can be mentioned though.

solarforceflaslight-sales is legit. That's the name but as mentioned I can't give a direct link. Cheap + $2 shipping. It comes from china but it generally gets to me in ~2 weeks.

customlites
lighthound

All of those are legit ".com" stores that carry SolarForce host bodies. The first has the best prices (IIRC) and as mentioned shipping is $2 regardless of how much you buy, but they ship from Hong Kong. The other two are both US based. Both have good prices, with lighthound being the better of the two. Customlites is owned by Nailbender, a member of these forums and custom drop-in builder. He has a smaller selection of SolarForce lights and they are a couple bucks higher, but his drop-ins are awesome from everything I've read. If planning to buy one of his drop-ins, it'd probably be cheaper to pay the couple bucks extra he charges for a light than pay for shipping from 2 places. If you look around in the CPF marketplace you might find the light you seek or other reputable dealers as well.

Which solarforce are you looking for? What are you calling too cheap for a sloarforce light? I'm going to assume that you are looking for a L2-series, P60 based light host since that seems to be the most popular. I know it is my preferred of their offerings. Even among the "legit" ones I've never seen an expensive solarforce P60 host. Most L2-series bodies sale for the 10-15 dollar range, with the L2P and stainless versions being a little higher. I have seen L2s go for 30-35 bucks, but those include a drop in. If that's what you are looking at better off to buy the cheaper host only and a better drop-in. It'll be a little more expensive, but you'll end up with a better light. If the budget won't allow for a nice custom drop-in (not sure that mine will either) I recommend buying a host body and a SolarForce drop-in from the first dealer I mentioned. I've heard that those ebay combo drop-ins are questionable, but that the SolarForce drop-ins from that site are good for the price.

The only SolarForce L2 hosts that I would really question are ones that have a polished finish and claim to be made of aluminum. To my knowledge the only polished L2s have been stainless, or striped and polished at home.
