Can you gurus chime in on the differences of the Solarforce L2 line? Are they pretty much the same guts? Anybody prefer the McClicky guts in a Solarforce cap? My only Solarforce is the L2n and a fake L2m.

Not a guru here but AFAIK there are 2 kinds of tailcaps internal build for Solarforce.
1 has the retaining ring screw thread same as the battery tube, resulting in more spins before being able to remove it.
The other has a smaller screw thread than the battery tube.

I use McClicky in all my tailcaps, some with the brass ring, some with my own method.
Both works well for me..

In terms of the mechanism itself, there are at least three: reverse clicky (used to be standard on most of their basic hosts) forward clicky (seems more common now) and the twisty S7, which is press for momentary/twist for constant on.

The clickies feel pretty similar in terms of how much pressure is required to activate them. In comparison to the McClicky on my MD2, the Solarforce forward switches feel somewhat heavier/spongier.

There is a lot of great information on Solarforce tail caps here. Do a search for Tailcapalooza. It is a good compilation of Solarforce tail caps.
