Hi all,

I'm hoping to find an EDC with exceptional build quality and a low (<30 lm) mode.

I currently own a Quark AA2 S2, and even though I love its UI and its low-low mode (53 days!), it just feels too thin and flimsy to handle any serious abuse.

I've narrowed it down to a few options:
  • HDS 120E
  • Surefire 6P w/ Thrunite P60 drop-in
  • Surefire G2X Pro
  • Surefire Fury
Anyone have a recommendation? Is there anything else I should consider?

If you like the low low modes the HDS is the way to go. The lights you picked are all solid and bulletproof, the HDS gives you the most control in the amount of light you get.

I think everyone should own an HDS and a Surefire 6p, if I had to to pick one it'd be the hds

I just ordered a G2X Pro, mainly because I can't find any 120Es in stock.

Hopefully Henry will get his supply issues figured out before too long 🙂

Yeah it has been a problem, battery station still had stock last month and goinggear ran out last Friday according to a few peeps

If you have patience, order an HDS. It may take some time to come in, but once you get it, I think you'll be happy with it. My 200 rotary, 170 tactical and 140 twisty are my absolute go to lights when the weather gets nasty, and they may have to be thrown into a tool bucket(overhanging bin on a electric company cherrypicker) at a moments notice. My HDS lights have taken some serious abuse, but still work.

Yeah, patience is key.

Funny enough, I had ordered an HDS late last year, but ended up cancelling after being on backorder for well over a month.

Oh well, hopefully the Surefire will live up to expectation!

Yeah, check back with hds in April or May when the ball gets rolling again, keep the Surefire to tide you over 😀 LOL

Quick update: the G2X Pro arrived yesterday, and so far it has exceeded all expectations.

If it's true that an HDS is of higher quality, then it must be an absolute beast.
