I use various low current li-poly cell items to extend the batteries in things, like my gps, ext camera power, and for flatlights and other stuff.
I got a specific 5A square li-poly http://www.batteryspace.com/polymerl...eullisted.aspx
because it is thick and square, it is a great size, in a single or turned into a series block it would be a great size.
well it has been Years and years and hundreds of cycles now, and it is time to finish it .
while many other cell items less cycled and less aged and less worked have died, this thing has survived and amazingly enough works as good as a new one.
i figured it was time to REPLACE it, and have removed it from service, but it acts like it is freaking NEW, that is really a great oddity
i could toss up a bunch of numbers like ~4700mA at 1Amp discharge , more than 120 cycles, and about 4years of time. but they are all loose numbers.
i often did hard pulse charging on it, to preserve it, and it was never set for storage or high or low, it was just used and used and used daily. it was taken as high as 4.3 and as low as 2.5 during its life (never seemed bothered by it), although generally it was just charged and discharged normally.
I recommend this particual cell item for high storage capacity, long runtime stuff, not high output . If you should be needing that. it is simple one of the best flat cell items i have ever used.
i will now be testing the 9amp version which also in its new today state kicks butt, but i will see what happens in time, when everything fails over time and cycles.
people keep saying that li-ion has a short lifetime, well most of the junk out there does, but there exists stuff that is aparentllly made MUCH better, like my SAFT cells , my LG cells , my Sony cells, which have outlived all the junk that people must be referring to. This item is just one more li-ion type of cell that i mentally add to my list of stuff Worth Using as for the 2 year stuff :-p they should be ashamed :-) it IS entirely possible to make and use li-ions that last Way over 5+ years, i have some stuff that is 10+years old, and still works at about 80%.
