An SST50 can be driven up to 5Amps. If you are buying a H6Flex (in your parts list) then you can set the driver at the current setting you want; 3A, 3.6A or even 5A. and so get more light out of your torch.

If you are using a H6Flex from Taskled, this is your driver...You won't need a 'KD 2.8' as well.

A latching Hall will probably not work on the H6Flex. As I understand it, it operates by two momentary switching actions; 'Click' (less than 0.3sec), and 'Press' (longer than 0.3sec). You need to order the momentary Hall version. Taskled (George) will be able to advise here.

Sounds like a great project...Be interested to hear how you go:thumbsup:

Yes, the "new one" is the toggle version ('Halltg'). Do not buy the toggle version if using it with a H6Flex.

The H6FLEX operates by momentary bridges across the switch contacts. On the H6FLEX circuit board the switch contacts are marked 'SWA' and 'SWB'.

If using the H6FLEX you will need to design the torch with a remote magnet that you can tap against the torch. A magnet either on a cord, fixed to your BC, or on your opposite wrist perhaps.

With a remote magnet and the momentary version of the Hall ('Hallsw') you can use all the driver functions of the H6FLEX.

If however you still insist on using the new toggle version of the Hall then I'm thinking all you could configure the H6FLEX for is a simple on/off. It would be almost impossible to translate the 'toggle on/toggle off' into momentary switches of less than .3 second. The H6FLEX operates by distinguishing between momentary switches of <0.3sec and >0.3sec ('Clicks' and 'Presses' in the instruction manual).

As a wise person once advised me...It might pay you to read the instruction manual on Taskled's website.

Again, George (or someone who is more familiar with the H6FLEX) can also assist here.

If you've already purchased the 'Halltg' then why not attach it to the H6Flex and see what you can do with it.

I'd be interested to hear what happens.

(make sure you have your heat-sinked LED attached to the H6FLEX before applying power).

You don't have to.

Like I said, have the magnet remote from the torch and use your momentary Hall. You will need full control of your dexterity underwater to operate it with 'clicks' and 'presses'.

If you put a ring on it it might prove difficult (but not impossible) twisting it rapidly back and forth to give <0.3secs and >0.3secs switches.

I stand corrected.

Reading George's reply in a newer thread I see the new Toggle version of the Hall switch can be used with Flex Drivers as a momentary.

The switch contact is momentary, while the FET ('LED') is toggle.

Tharq, don't forget to post some of your maglite pics! I'm interested to know how you're planning to hook up the hallsw or halltg (whichever one you decide to use).
