As an FYI to anyone who is interested, I sent an e-mail to Mr. Zeng John at [email protected] and this was the reply I received 2 days ago:

<<Thank you for your inquiry. The price for LED flashlight model Starlite- 128R is $8.00 each and the LED bulb model NPLB-128R is $7.00, both needs to plus shipping and handling and CA tax. There is no minimum order requirement, you can just order as many as you want. But if you give me the exact quantity of ordering, it would be easy for me to tell you the shipping and handling cost.>>

I've got one of the bulbs coming. When it gets here I'll compare it to the Technology Associates Versalux PR2 blubs we have already and post the results.

Thanks for posting this.

It`s wierd- cos they`re still on their web site with no mention of being discontinued. I see that they have used quite a lot of Craig`s photos there- Craig, have you heard anything similar from Sino Union recently? If they are discontinued, well that`s a shame- even though they were not that strong, for the money it was hard to beat, and when the body finally gave up, that Night Pearl bulb could be transplanted into a better light. Maybe it was the flimsy body that made them decide just to concentrate on the LED bulbs?

Jarhead, if you're trying to get more info on the night pearl bulbs, you might want to check out this somewhat newer thread: http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=94002&highlight=Sino+Union

By the way, you mentioned in your review thread the simularity between this bulb and the new SMJLED2 PR2 SS. If you look at the beamshots in the above thread, the pearl has a much smaller hotspot than even the older MJLED. Also, the night pearl is still using a very tiny emitter (see bulb pictures) as of late last year.

Remember, there is a lot of "borrowing" going on in these offshore manufacturers.

Hope this helps.

Sinotone sent me a mix of NPLB-128R & -128RF 2 cell flange base. I got them mixed up and cannot tell them apart just looking at the beam. Wide viewing angle LED for use with reflectors.
I also got NPLB-128PW 2 cell screw base. These have a very narrow beam c/w blue center. I use these in my penlights.

See my offer here.
