This was a fairly easy mod for a friend of mine. He was sick of the yellow incandescent and poor battery life.

2 inch slug of aluminum machined to diameter with 30 degree shoulder.

On the scale. It wavered between 78g and 80g.

good mod....it brethes new life into the flashlight.

But why a just 26mm optic? there IS room for a larger reflector

I wanted to leave as much aluminum as possible to absorb heat.

Nice mod to bring that Streamlight up to modern times:thumbsup:. The most important info is missing... how does your friend like it?

Thanks! And now I see the misleading heading. LOL, that would be awesome.

Nice drop in. I have done some work with the SL-20X as well, and there is not that much room in the head to work with, especially the depth. I had to make my own driver to fit in there. What driver did you use ?

Harry, he chose to run it off of 3 alkaline D cells since they are provided for him at work. So, it's direct drive and pulls right at 2 amps. I would like to do one with a 3.0 amp driver but will have to wait for a customer that is less cheap. I told him he could run it off of the stock battery, but would have to pay an extra $10 for a driver. His stock battery stick was just about dead, so he chose the cheaper alternative since he would have needed to replace it as well.

Lilkevin, I missed your question the first time through. He loves it! I don't think he had any idea how poorly his light used to work until he saw our other buddy using the mag mod that I made for him as seen here http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?365030-Two-XM-L2-3D-Mag-Conversion-Pictoral.

Now I have another order for one of these Streamlight drop-ins. He's in the same boat. Battery stick is completely dead though. He would rather use D cells with an LED that's an order of magnitude brighter than the stock setup.

I got the machine work done tonight and will finish it tomorrow. I may make a jig for drilling and tapping the holes since there is potential for making more.

I just edited the video of the machine work for the 2nd light and posted it on the Tube.

Video added to the first post.
