Streamlight 3AA Luxeon Task-Light

The Streamlight 3AA Luxeon Task-Light has a warning regarding the use of non alkalines. Has anyone run this torch with NiMh cells. Many modders do drive LED’s hard but if I go with NiMh will there be current runaway? I would like to add this light to my inventory but ONLY if rechargeables can be used to feed it. BTW I do have V1 of the LGI and it is fed a regular diet of NiMh’s. How would the beam/output of the two compare?

I use 2000 mah NIMH batts in mine. ive had it for a bout three months and use it daily. i have corrasponded to the lead engineer at Streamlight and he states that there is a resister in the light so that rechargeables can be used.

my belief is that the warning pretains to the use of Lithium batts. that would likely fry the led, resistor or no resistor.

this is a great mass produced light. mine is white and has a nice beam. Great job Streamlight.

I dropped my first 3AA Task light. Streamlight sent me a brand new one, after I sent my first one back. Unfortunately, the second one was greener than the first. But, for the money, I can't complain I got great customer service, and I still think that it is a great bargain. My ARC is whiter but it cost $95 more!

i,ve ran my Tasklight 5 hours continuous using sony 2100mah rechargeables and still going strong

Call or e-mail Streamlight and ask them about your battery question. As noted above, they have GREAT customer Service.
