This light has been mentioned with praise here so much I went to look at one. This LED seems to lack any sort of a keyring attachment or lanyard hole. Am I correct? Tell me I'm wrong. I like this light otherwise.

There is no keyring attachment or lanyard hole. There is a pocket clip, and a cheap one at that, and that's all.

Bummer. Thought so. Well then, what in your opinion would be the equivalent -- or better -- of the Streamlight Jr Luxeon LED that does allow either a keyring or lanyard to be attached?

I'm planning to upgrade my 2-AA Mini Maglite with one of those TerraLUX MiniStar2 drop-in rigs. But what to do about my 2-AAA Mini Maglite?

PhotonBoy is right. The Streamlight Jr. Luxeon is equivalent to a Mini-Mag with a sandwich, but costs half as much. I have both, and my Mini-Mag gets used only occasionally. The Streamlight is my main light when I don't need anything as big as my Hyper-Blaster. Of course, I never used the keychain attachment on my Mini-Mag anyway...

The Jr. Luxeon comes with a convenient beltcase. Since it uses two AA batteries, there are many M@g accessories that fit, including a nice neoprene sleeve with clip and belt loop by NiteEyez [spelling?]. Also, Tardis here on CPF is selling quick-release lanyards that have a thin nylon loop at the end, which can fit under the tailcap. I use wide elastic bands for grip. Great general purpose light otherwise, but no throw so best for inside use or close-up work. Regulation does well with NiMH rechargeables.

An answer to your question about a drop-in for your AAA MiniMag.....Look here at the runtime I did on the Lt-1 module.

I think 2dim is talking about the Nite Ize Grip n' Clip. They also make the Lite Ring - a rubber ring with a clip. The ring is supposed to stretch 4x its size, and accommodate most flashlights.

REI carries most Nite Ize products, so you might want to look at them if there's an REI in your area.

There's Berkeley Point's Mini M@g Collar for something that looks a little classier. It has a cell phone type tab and a threaded hole that can accept stud swivels.

When I've needed a lanyard on my SL Jr. Luxeon, I've just tied a length of cord around it with a constrictor knot. The rubber Kroll-type switch keeps it from slipping off. Works fine.
