Streamlight Scorpion Destroyed!

I should have known better than to try and mod my old scorpion, but I gave it a try. since the head does not come apart to release the lens, I decided to use my dremel with a cutoff wheel. That was a big mistake! When I finally got the head separated I saw that the aluminum was just over 1/8th of an inch thick. The scorpion is built like a tank, and I would need a machine shop to mill the head enough to allow my LED mod to fit. I did not use good judgement. When I could not unscrew the head I should have stopped. Streamlight makes a very solid flashlight, the scorpion is what it is and should be remembered with fondness.

I recommend giving it a burial worthy of a Terminator...weld a thumbs up sculpture to it and toss it in a vat of molten aluminum.

Great idea! Maybe Streamlight could use it in a commercial? I'm still impressed with how thick the aluminum is on that little flashlight, they made it to last! They could not anticipate what me and my dremel would do...

search at budgetlights.com, someone there posted measurements for drill bits to use on both the M@G 2AA and the Scorpion, I think I recall. Several people have carefully drilled these out, just handheld.

To use just the pill from a dropin in the M@g, the drill diameter was 25/32; for the Scorpion, slightly larger and using the pill with the reflector. Don't trust my memory on the numbers, search will turn it up.
