I picked up a Streamlight SL-20X at the flea market last weekend. I'm pretty sure it needs a new bulb. I don't know much about lights, but I'm looking to fix it up. I'm wondering what bulb I should get as well as what kind of batteries I should use in it. Thanks for any help.

You'll need the Streamlight Lamp Module, rechargeable Ni-Cad battery, charging sleeve and either a AC or DC cord (or both). Other after-market batteries may work, but I have no knowledge of them. I have heard that the battery from the Mag-Lite "Mag-charger" will work in the SL-20X. After-market Lamp Modules also exist, but I have no experience with them (I know that Terra-Lux [sp?] offers an LED upgrade you may want to look at).

That well-known auction sites sells bulb modules and chargers for the SL-20X.

You will be paying at least $60-$70 (or more) in order to buy all the new parts you need to get the light running (charger sleeve $8, AC cord $13, Incandescent bulb, $11, Battery $30-$40). If you need a new on/off switch that is $12 more. You can get a whole new light for $95-$105 with the AC charger.

I built a couple of Nimh battery packs for my SL20x's (I have 4). The nicads will cook leaving them on trickle. Charger sleeves and AC or DC plugs can be had readily through eBay or here.
