Streamlight TL-3 comparisons?

I just received my Streamlight TL-3 incandescent (in black, so I can distinguish it from my green TL-3 LED!)

I'm mighty impressed. Brighter, longer throw, more spill than my Pelican M6, which is to be expected, based on the three lithium cell power supply.

Any TL-3 owners out there who can compare it to similar three cell lights?

Unfortunately, three cell lithium powred lights are becoming rare. SF has discontiued most of its line, except the M-3.

Comparing the TL-3 to my SF 9P...similar to comapring the two cell lightrs: The TL-3 throws farther, but the 9P has more of a flood pattern.

Is it possible to unfocus the TL-3 a bit, and does that somewhat duplicate the beam profile of the 9P?

Also, any comments on beam smoothness (on either narrow or wide beam)?
