I have a Streamlight TL-3 that I have been happy with for several years, but I'm wondering if there is anything I could do to kick it up a notch since it was designed quite a few years ago. I am generally more interested in increased output rather than runtime. I have been hanging around the forum for a long time, but don't post much. Any suggestions?

Ahh, my first hotwire...this brings back fond memories of when I learned what a hotwire was all about...

Yes, there is a very simple, very nice hotwire option for this. All you need is:
Unfortunately, the only source for the Carley H1499 bulb is CPF member Litho123 (link above). This is a custom bulb made by Carley specifically for him. And, he has currently decided to take a break from his normal hotwire bulb sales business. Besides that, it looks like he is now out of stock on his Carley H1499 bulbs.

I happen to have a few of these great bulbs on hand, so if you're interested in doing this hotwire let me know and I'm sure I can spare a 1499 until he gets more in stock, and gets back in the sales game. Strangely enough, this was exactly the situation I was in with my un-modded TL-3 when I first joined the forum, and CPF member Lebox97 was nice enough let me have one of his 1499 bulbs. I must carry on the tradition... :)

Lastly..........:welcome:

Rich - really enjoy all your light info/beamshots. Do you recall what the TL-3
otuput is with this mod? And how often do the Carley bulbs need to be replaced?

It basically doubles the output from stock - takes it from 200 lumens to ~400 lumens. See beamshots of the stock TL-3 vs. hotwired TL-3 here: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=181762

I'm not sure what the bulb life of the Carley lamps are on 2x17500. Maybe someone else on the forum will know.
