what is brighter in a flashlight a akaline battery or a nicad?id say alkieline cause its 1.5 volts while a nicad is 1.2? is this right?

the alk at first.
but the nicad has a very flat discharge curve and low internal resistance.
the alks will quickly drop to 1.2 and keep dropping.

In very high current demand applications, a NiCd or NiMH can even drive an incandescent (or especially a DD LED--watch out!) harder than a fresh alkaline...all because of the lower internal resistance. This is why in high current applications Ni-Cd/Ni-MH cells are better suited, and can even last longer than their alkaline counterparts.
