Substitute for a G2.5 lamp?

For Christmas, I got a light that uses a G2.5 lamp. I didn't know "G" lamps also come in pin-size 2.5.
It looks like this:

I want to use hi-cap NiMH's and a lamp with a high amp rating in this light. The G2.5 seems to be practically impossible to find (where I live anyway) and I don't know if it's available in hi-amp either, so I'm looking for a substitute.

Anyone have any ideas?

I might also experiment with overdriving a three-cell lamp (like the Tec 40 trick), but that would be more for fun.

The 4.8 mm bulb envelope circumference is the same as exists with T-1 1/2 bulbs.

Welch Allyn's T-1 1/2 bulbs have 3.05 mm pin centers with .203 diameter pins.

Carley's T-1 1/2 bulbs have 1.270 mm pin centers with .508 diameter pins.

The wide G2.5 pin spacing makes it non-interchangeable with the alternatives that first come to mind.

Don't really understand why my post has been moved here, as all I want to do is change the lamp. I see such posts on the general forum almost every day.

Oh well.

So Lemlux, you don't know of a direct replacement?

Perhaps a stupid question, but what if I carefully bend the pins of a possible substitute?
