Suggestions for offroad lights needed

I drive my F350 offroad at night and would like a much wider view to avoid smacking the occasional Deer that want to dart in front of me from the side of the road. I have a ladder rack on my Gem top that could afford nice high mounting points and just need some suggestions for some wide angle lights with decent output. I can't afford the real fancy stuff so lets see if we can keep it under $100? I guess that means Hellas are out:mecry:
Also prefer lights that use common off the shelf bulbs (no oddball projector stuff please)

the hella 550s can be had for under 100 and if you aim them right you can cover a lot of road with them on. I have a set on my car for watching out for wandering coyotes and deers on dark highways.

some people swear by the 500s but I never used them so can't say anything about them.

The 550's should fill the bill nicely. Reasonably priced as well.
As a bonus my local Wally World has 500FF's for $65 complete with relay, wire and switch. I suddenly feel the need for driving lights.

I really wish i could remember the name of them, but i bought some inexpensive 2 pack of 55w halogen square driving lights from Pep boys years ago for my old F-250.

They were $30 each two pack, and I mounted Four of them on the bumper.

I wired the 2 center lights to one switch, and the other two lights on the end to another switch. The lights on the end of the bumber were great for illuminating the edges of the road, and seeing at night while offroad.

Make sure the switches are easily accessible so as to not blind other drivers!

Whether you get the 550s or the 500s, make sure you buy the driving light version with the clear flat lens and not the fog lights that have the vertically ridged lens, which are good for see up close but not ideal for seeing things in the distance.

If you go with the Hella 500 lights, in driving beam, they should be used with you're high beams, the produce a long beam, not much for the side to side that you're wanting, I had them on a Mazda truck and had them wired to come on with the high beams, they worked very well to see further down the road, but not much for the side of the road!

You get what you pay for.
In my experince Hella is the minimum you should get, anything cheaper is a waste of money.
Personally I lean towards Cibie if the budget can stretch, other wise I use Hella or Narva. And wish I had Cibies!

Narvas aren't bad. I use them on my car. They are cheap, and very bright and well focused. The design of the adjustment system has something to be desired, but patience and loctite can help that.

If I were buying lights again, however, I would get lightforce clones.
