Suggestions on Battery storage

Folks:

I have a pot load of lith-ion batteries now and need a way to store them- Any suggestions?

Is there a recommended way or a economical storage container?- wont be transporting them - just stashing them in the house or garage

I use the smaller AA/AAA/CR123-18650 plastic cases and then I put them into something like a medium size Plano storage doohickey like you find at Bass Pro Shops, in the fishing section, or at Lowes/Home Depot, in the 'organizer' section.

I guess the smaller cases and a plastic ammo can, might work?

Just store them in a cool, dry location and discharge them down to 3.6-3.7v.

For small batches, I do that and then ziplock bag them and stick them in the fridge.

I have about 20 rechargeable cells and a couple hundred alkaline s- but I get your point-- I think

It might be a bit too small for your needs but I use a large fireproof lipo charge bag (its a box shaped bag rather than a flat one) for my lithium cells (£8 posted from ebay) and store them in a cupboard in a spare room.

Well safe would be any container that:

• Resists the heat of a vent-with-flame event (even if a flaming Li-ion 'lights' all other Li-ions sitting next to it)
• Doesn't explode when masses of magic smoke is released (read: relatively easy-release lid)
• Is stored some place where it can't ignite materials next to / above / below the container

Ammo box sounds like a good start there... :)

A good diy/hobby store sell large plastic cases with dividers that you make to suit.My Eneloop type are stored in these types of cases and are rotated after charge so the oldest charged are always at the front.

A bunch. :D

Not as many as most around here, but maybe 40 Li Ions and 30-40 Eneloops, maybe 60 CR123's. I have two ammo cans bc they were cheap. :)

For the AAs you can get a Flambeau case at Walmart for about 6 dollars. It can hold around 100AAs on 1 row alone. They fit perfectly if you get the right size case with the blue dividers. 123s fit ok standing up but I don't think it is the right size for 18650 cells.
