Hey guys!
I just got a SF G2 in the mail and it seams like its been on a shelf in the sun for a long time. One side is pretty pale, the other is normal yellow.

It seamed fine and not an issue until I started twisting the tailcap and the tints stopped to be aligned.

I have tried to get photos of it but its hard for the cam to get the different shades.

Anyone else seen this?

LOL, now I have 2 SureFires, both with weird tint on the body! =)

I saw some examples of folks here dyeing (you spell it like that?:thinking:) and it looks great so I might go for that in the future but for now, any ideas how to even out the color?

True..

So here it is in all its pale glory with the mismatched bezel on my C2.
My surefires never have a uniform color.

my yellow G2 did the same thing setting in my truck through the summer. mine was way more sever than that though so i just dyed mine orange with rit dye from walmart.

Sounds cool, I found the thread about the orange G2 (http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=208120) and it looks sweet! Just have to find something close to RIT Dye here in Sweden..

Maybe with some reflection tape like G2L Fire Rescue and a smooth metal bezel from Electro Guru and I have a prefect emergency light for my flight emergency kit.

Look at it in the dark. The color will even right up! :thumbsup:
 
It's very likely that the dye used in the plastic of the Nitrolon has been effected by ultra violet light and degraded. Unfortunately most plastics also become more brittle by the same process. Of course Nitrolon is a specialised material developed by Surefire for its resilience but it would be interesting to learn if this exposure has made the body more brittle?:eek:
