Anyone seen these videos on YouTube? A little disconcerting...

NNOOOO! I just exchanged my EA4W for this one, and it hasn't arrived yet. In all seriousness, 2 of them look like they're from the same person. Any more info? There's not much to go on. I know you probably don't know the answer. There's are the first issues I've heard about. Until there's more info, or reports I won't get worried.

It's the added risk you take with electronic switches - kinda the price you have to pay for the cool UIs and battery meters - the "moving" parts are the most likely to fail. Most will be fine, and a few will not. For my more critical lighting needs, I prefer to stick with twisties or mechanical clickies (at least you can usually bypass a mechanical clicky.

I had the exact problem from the first video. I contacted my dealer that I purchased it from and they processed a replacement immediately. Don't give up hope, as it's a wonderful light.

The only thing I find really disconcerting is the fact that the threads REALLY need some grease, arrrrghhh. Hey, it's a defective light, it happens. I've bought lots of electronic stuff on-line for many years, and I'd say my return rate is close to 50%. In order to have all the fancy gizmos, the electronics tend to be complicated, and it only takes one faulty part or solder joint to disable it.

One way to minimize this issue is to only buy lights with a simple, yet solid design, from a manufacture that uses top grade materials and construction techniques. However, even Surefire,HDS, and Peak lights have problems occasionally. Probably not all that many, but there will always be defects.

This simply reinforces how important it is to buy from a vendor with a rock-solid warranty/exchange program. It's called service after the sale, and it's often just as important, if not more so, than a rock-bottom price.

Personally, I tend to favor electronic switches on my lights. I feel their ultimate longevity (often 50,000 cycles or more) outweighs any downside. But that's just my opinion.

That is three out of how many that have been sold?? :duh2: I would not be concerned unless you learn that there have been reports of a LOT of them failing. I have this light and I think it is great! Just buy it from a reputable dealer who will exchange it if you DO get a bad one. No company makes a light where a few duds are not shipped out! :D
