Surefire 6pl missing something?

I recently sold my old surefire 6p and bought a new 6pl. When I opened the new 6pl I noticed that the threads on the rear of the battery tube are silver in color. I seem to remember the threads of my old 6p being a brass color. Am I crazy or is something actually different in the body of these two lights?:thinking:

The coating has changed to be more environmentally-friendly.

It seems like there is no coating at all! I rubbed the inside of the tube with my finger and found aluminum flakes inside! Is this new uncoated surefire as reliable and high quality as the old ones?

Pictures of the light are required. Include serial # and close up of threads, switch, module and inside the body. Someone here will be able to spot the anomaly. Where did you buy the 6PL?

SF uses clear chemfilm now to comply with ROHS. It looks like bare al, but it is coated.
