Surefire 6R Upgrades

I seem to have a surplus of Surefire 6P's. Would an LED conversion and a 6R improve the lumens? I got a 6R when they first came out. If I recall, Surefire said it would boost the light up to 100 lumens or so. I don't see anything on their website with that claim now. I also have a G2. Would the rechargeable kit do anything the protected 123 rechargeables I use now don't?

The reason you cant find anything for them is because they are pretty old, and a valued collectors item. :twothumbs (If it actually is a 6R. post some photos to help us) You should just try a good aftermarket dropin like malkoff

I have never heard about the KR2 or the KR1 kit raising the lumens to 100. At least not the P60 or the R60 60 lumen LA . I do know the kit which converts the 6P to the 6R can also be used the optional high output Incan. SF P61 LA for 120 lumens. The SF P60L 80 led lumen LA also works with this set up. There was also an old school bulb that came out with this kit which was the SF R60 which I heard ran better with the B65 rechargable battery. I dont know what that referred to anyway I use my kit with the P60L. The running time is great I have not done a runtime test but I have used my light for a while without having to charge it. I dont have a Malkoff M60 but that is next on my list. You can order the KR2 (Alumin.) and KR1 (Nitrolon) kit or everything separate the charger, B65 battery and the AN14 conversion adapter tube, however I did not see the A14 alumium tube on the SF website. Here are some photos. 6PL with Defender Bezel and clicky and the OG light this kit was made for the 6P.

This might help you as far as info goes with your 6R. They put that light out of service back in 2000-2001. i found some info on it, however the archive is sketchy. so most of the stuff back before 2001 does not work, and the other stuff is iffy. i tried to see if i could find anything, but there are so many pages i couldnt.

Thanks, guys. I was considering a Malkoff, but prefer a light slightly larger than the 6P for a duty belt light. Ideally, I'd like something between the size of a 6P and the 8NX I carried up until I went to the smaller and brighter light. Of course, ideally, I'd like to be twenty-five years younger and thirty pounds lighter, but that ain't gonna happen either.

I would think most prefer a Malkoff to a Surefire LED conversion?

You also might want to sell that thing in the marketplace. Could make more than what you paid for it. Take that money and buy a new surefire.

As someone running a new-school 6R with a Malkoff M60 module, I gotta say it works great. I've got a diffuser on the front and a CombatRing installed backwards on the tailcap and, while it's a little bulky in the pocket, it feels great in the hand and boy can it sling photons. The diffuser makes it work well up close, too.

I never really liked my 6R, runtime + output with the NiCd-batts + the battery cost when in 6P-mode, and very quickly changed to 8X and then 9N

But since modding the 6P with a Cree and 18650, that is my main light
