Regarding the lens, mine's Pyrex, and yours should be too if it's new stock. (I believe that more than a year ago they were Lexan).

Re: Bianchi holster. Look for these at any typical cop-shop. The ASP 26" baton, the Streamlight Stinger, and the 8NX are all about the same size and use the same holster - I'm specifically referring to the one with the fold over and snap button top.

I believe it is the Accumold 7311? Well, when you get to your local police supply store, just ask, and they'll guarantee have a catalog.

I got a 8NX over the weekend. I noticed the ends of the batteries getting slightly warm in the charger. The dealer checked it out when I purchased it and informed me that it has the updated charger. It has CM14 batteries. I have not let the batteries idle long enough to test the dead trouble yet.

I am using two tricks from my RC car days. Run the battery down and keep it cool while charging. I have a muffin fan blowing on the charger assembly and the ends do not heat up with that setup. I think the heat is building up due to the plastic surrounding the ends in the holder. The center did not seem to heat up, just the ends.

So far all seems well. I know current theory in NI-Cads is that they do not need deep cycling but if these are 1800 or even 1500 capacity batteries they should be old technolgy cells anyway.

Next step will be my milennium charger and possibly some spare 3000 NIMH cells. If they can handle a 20 amp motor load they should be able to handle a couple of amps from a flashlight.

Update. Millenium charger was out, doesn't dial down to 3 cells. I did get a Maha 777+ from Snuffy (thanks). Light is visibly brighter when it comes off the Maha but it did false peak on me once or I put the stick in while it was too warm from freshly discharging.

Anyway the sticks are CM14 code. I charged one up on the first of June and left it sitting on my desk. Checked voltage drops from June 2 forward. Drifted from 4.14 volts down to 3.99, not bad. Then I turned that stick on.

If I read my LM631 right (new toy) It was set for 10X lux and I was at 1 meter and got the follwoing chart. Started at 2500 and ended at 1200.

The second stick has been used in the interim and seems to have gotten slightly brighter as the batteries cycle up to normal operation.

Maybe they have it now? This and a Poly Stinger are my current favorite rechargeables Now if I can get a pryex lens for the Stinger.

My batteries say CM10. I have not really done any testing like Pellidon has, but they seem to work fine.

Can you tell by the CM code on the battery when it was made?

There is some kind of date code. I don't remember what or where I saw it described (if I did) but your CM10's should be of an older lot than my CM14's The numbers and letters advance chronologically as time marches on in production.

My light was supposedly factory fresh and has the new updated charger as well. CM14 sticks seem to endorse that statement. Got mine at a gun show at the first of the month.
