Where can i get batteries for the surefire 9N..it belonged to my late husband and i would love to give it to my grandson

Lumens factory make an insert for that light so you can use an 18650. Well made

Like Thermal Guy says, LF makes a battery adapter as well as LED bulb retrofits. Batteryspace sells an original replacement NiCD style pack if you want to keep using the existing charger, but some people say they don't fit right.

One thing to keep in mind is the 9N is functionally obsolete and unsupported by Surefire. I'd give the light as-is as a keepsake but spend the money on a modern flashlight that's not 30 year old technology.

I am so glad you didn't trash it. Quality tools don't belong in the bin unless they've been run over and flattened by a tank.

Problem with almost all of Surefire's rechargeables is that they weren't part of a popular system like their other lights. They'd make a model for a few years and then end it. The 9N turned into the 9AN (which couldn't even use the same charger) but then by somewhere in the 2000s they were discontinued for good. If you ask SF about the lifetime warranty now you basically get "lol lmao." Meanwhile Streamlight still makes a light compatible with their 9N competitor, complete with factory LED, battery, and charger upgrades.

And thanks, if you don't want it let me know. Also if anyone in the family has old-style police flashlights I'm a historian and collector.

Back in the day, we had a member who talked about his only two SureFire flashlights.... A 9AN model, and an L7. Both rechargeables. He mentioned he worked as an usher in a movie theater and used them on the job. I hope he found some way to power them. Just realized.... I also own a 9AN. Been put away in storage for years. :(

Lumens Factory has LED drop ins for botjh as well as an 18650 battery sleeves with a built in McClicky switch. I guarantee these upgrades will make you dig these lights. @Lizzy this upgrade would be phenomenal to have your grandson keep this part of Grandpa with him forever!

You'd have to modify the battery. The contacts on either end don't make contact with the 9N's parts. I just tried it.
