Does anyone know of a source for a Surefire 9N? Having lost mine (it was 4 years old) I am lost without it. It appears to have been replaced by the 9AN, which to my understanding, uses a different charger. Thanks for the help.

Jaime,

Welcome to CPF

You might want to run an add in the B/S/T Forum, (WTB: Surefire 9N)

EDIT: I see you already ran an add. Good luck!

The 9N had various chargers including the C600 fast charger which allowed the 9N to be recharged without having to remove the battery.

The 9AN uses the standard CN400 for it's B90 battery sticks.

Sorry to hear about your loss, I can just imagine what that feels like /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

The original Classic 9N (probably my favorite of all my SureFire collection) used the C800 charger which allowed the whole light to slot in and be recharged without having to take the battery out. It also had the capability of recharging the bare B92/B90 battery on its own thanks to a little spring loaded bit that pops up inside when the whole light isn`t there. I believe later Classic 9Ns only came with the cheaper C600 charger which offered the charge-in-light option only, or at least mine does. The modern day 9ANs do not have the charge-in-light capability any more, so if you only have a C600 charger, you`d need to get a new one (CN400, does the cell only) to charge a 9AN battery, or buy the whole light-batteries-charger-powersupply package which could work out slightly cheaper than buying them by themselves.

If you have the original C800 unit, it`ll charge the B90 battery that comes with the 9AN just fine. But although I don`t yet have the 9AN, I hear it isn`t as good as the original. The lack of charge-in-light capability is a major factor for me. And the KT3 is nowhere near as good as the T3 Turbohead for long throwing light. Luckilly for you, 9Ns aren`t *that* hard to find. They turn up on Ebay quite often, and I recall recently seeing a guy in this forum possibly thinking about selling his never-used one - that would be worth a look.

In it's stock form, I think the 9AN is better than the 9N - mostly due to the LockOut TailCap, but I do agree charging the 9N as a whole is useful.

The KT3 does not produce the amazing tight intense beam that the T3 does.

I have a 9N(T), a 9AN-BK (+ KT3-HA) and a 9AN-HA.

I use the 9NT the most of the three.

I'm sure you'll find yourself another one.

Interesting information- I have a 9N that I bought around the end of '94 that came with a C50 rapid charger which allows charging either the battery only or the flashlight in place. Very nice quality and still works like a champ. Where does this place within the C800/C600 time frame?

If you post a WTB:SureFire 9N or WANTED:SureFire 9N in the B/S/T Lights forum, someone just may have one they aren't currently using, or may decide to sell theirs to get something else.

Also do a search on eBay for: SureFire 9N -- and include title and description. I've seen a few 9N's go through eBay in the last few months. Sometimes you can get a good deal.

I had though I lost my M3 a couple weeks ago when I left it in the door of my Rover and when I got back it was gone. It had only fallen down and bounced into the back seat area and under the driver's seat.
