Here are the things I like about it.
1. uses 123 primaries 10 year shelf life no worries about charging or self discharge
2. pocket size
3. just the right amount of light needed for most situations
4. long runtime on high and low mode
5. surefire quality

The only thing it needs to have is flat regulation. The main reasons I like this flashlight is the surefire quality, runtime and the use of primaries. Is there a light out there that has all these things and is fully regulated?

The E1L is fully regulated. Which version do you have? There are 3 or 4 of them out there...
 
Yes it is the latest model I am thinking about buying. How do you know it is fully regulated? Where did you find out? Do 123 primaries have a lower discharge rate than the lithium ion rechargeable batteries? Surefire claims 8 hours on the 45 lumen high output and 48 hours for the 3 lumen low output mode. Don't these runtimes seem to be a little high on a fully regulated flashlight?

Found out somewhere on here, can't remember where exactly.
Runtime graphs show the mostly flat line of lumens output till a certain point then the lumen output drops sharply till it dies.
That is regulation.

Welcome to CPF. Being new you probably have not used the search functions available on CPF. One of the best is the google, cpf only, at the top of every CPF page. Put in some appropriate phrases, such as E1L + regulation, or E1L + runtime, etc. Something is bound to pop up, and by the way Sgt LED is a good source of knowledge, and he is right, the E1L is fully regulated, both on low and high mode, unlike the L1, which is regulated on the high mode and uses a resistor for current reduction on the low mode. well one way of checking regulation is by doing a runtime graph yourself. not too hard if you have a luxmeter

It runs in flat regulation up to 5+ hours, after that it will slowly drop in output till the battery dies (about 8 hours total). Runtime on low is like foverer, you will NOT notice any drop in output. I am yet to see an E1L dying on low...
