surefire e2e vs 6p

i had heard alot of pros to the e2e, but was just wanting to see if there were any pros to the 6p. Since i have pretty much made up my mind, i won't have much to ask until i get it, so i will be sure and post my first thoughts when i get.

It really comes down to your own preference. You can read about it and listen to other people's experiences, but without experiencing them first hand, you can't really make a decision that would be "right" for you.

If there's any way you can get a first hand look at both of them, that would help you more than anything else. THIS is where the "buy both" comes into play. You buy both, see which one you like better, then sell the other one. It works out great if you can get a used one too.

I have it and it is quite remarkable with P61 (although shorter runtime). Nascar may be able to send you an instruction sheet for modding additional lamps. I am by no means a techie but I successfully modded a P61 following his instructions, though I wouldn't feel comfortable attempting a bezel mod.

I believe Nascar's creation (inspired by Don - (Mcgizmo ) is well worth the $75.00 or whatever he's currently charging.

Exactly how much larger is the 6p?? I am still debating between e2e and 6p. I am carfully evaluating each one. I am now leaning towards the 6p because it is slightly cheaper, a highly proven design, brighter bulb is easily available along with a rechargeable battery kit. But i am just wondering just how much bigger it is?? And what would be a good holster for it??

Subjectively the 6p is quite a bit larger. You can stick the e2e in your pocket and forget that it's there. That's much harder with the 6p.

How do you intend to carry the light? That is a major question to ask yourself. A very bright light is of not much use if you don't always have it with you. I own an M6 but it's usually in the drawer while my little E1e/KL1 or E2e or L4 is usually in my pocket.

If you wear a belt and plan to use a sheath "all the time" then go ahead and look at the 6P. It does offer many options such as HOLA, rechargeable conversion, and I think even a turbo head (?). Otherwise the E2e will probably be a better "EDC" light and in stock form there is not a "lot" of difference in beam.

If you are planning on just getting one light to carry all the time then don't let a few bucks be the deciding factor.

You could even get a G2 for 25 - 30 bucks and see how you like it. If it's too big or you don't like the plastic you can sell it and maybe loose 5 bucks or so.

For EDC I don't think you will beat the E2eHA for the price though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif You can always get a KL1 (better battery life) or KL4 (better flood)later.

One more question, i was reading something about the switches on the e1e and e2e lights. Sumthin about they use to be a silent switch, but now phasing in a clicky switch?? Anybody know what i am talking about?? Can someone explain it to me??

Sure Snapper,
The E1E and E2E are currently delivered with the lockout tailcaps... LOTC in the threads. It requires a push of the button on the end of the tailcap for momentary on, or you can twist it in to get constant on. To twist back to the normal position, you simply allign the two markers, and you are back at momentary on. Twist one more revolution to the markers, and you are at the lockout position, where the light cannot be accidentally activated, preventing battery drain if the switch is accidently depressed when packed.
The Z57 tailcap is the clickie model. You push lightly for momentary on, push all the way to the click to activate constant on. The clickie can also be locked out with a 360 degree twist out, but is not marked for allignment with the body.
I use both types of tailcaps, and I like them both. Since I usually use momentary on, I rarely think about the difference.

The old LOTC switch has a momentary pushbutton that turns on the light for as long as you hold the button down. If you want the light to stay on, you have to twist the tailcap to lock it down. The new clickie switch turns the light on momentarily if you push it down part way. If you push it further, it clicks and the light stays on til you click it off.
