SureFire E2E vs A2 - Revisited

Candle Power Forums

Help Support Candle Power:

Ive been carrying the A2. What i dislike is to back off the tailcap to the point that you cant turn on the light, the tail cap is to the point of just about falling off. Ive had the darn tail camp come off at leaset a half dozen times just trying to lock it out.

AR15Fan,

Do you have an early A2? I understand that the tailcap was different. Mine has about 3/4 of a turn after lock-out before the cap comes off.

The Two-stage TailCap did change to improve that. There's a photo of the two different versions (old and current) online here at CPF I believe. I have copy of it. If you'd like me to email it to you, please email me!

One of the best things about the A2 over the E2e is that I never have to LockOut the A2 when EDCing it unlike the Pressure Switch and Click Switch TailCaps for the E2e.

I would like to see the photo, mail me, mail me lol.
I was also suprised by the minimal number of thread after the lock-out.
With the 6P I use a pressure sensitive tape and velcro to strap it to my hand/wrist. Therefore I change the back-button by unsrewing the tail. It is a good way to get RSI: turning and turning and turning.
I'm looking forward to two-stage pressuresensitive tape /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/huh.gif

doug, if i ever decide to sell mine i'll let you know /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif if you want one right away you can talk to chris at meridian tactical; he ships overseas. thanks beretta; that's just my honest opinion of the A2 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i've found that i never lock my A2 as well; it just isn't that prone to being turned on accidentally for some reason. the most i ever do is lock out the high beam, so even if the LEDs come on its no big deal.

btw one of my favourite ways of using the A2 is turning the tailcap till the LEDs come on which i can use as a long-run light without having to hold down the switch, and as and when i need more light and throw its just a push away /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I like the A2's regulation but find it too big for pocket EDC so I carry either my E2E or a different light for my bright incandescent, plus the ARC AAA. If my work demanded dim close-up light alternating with bright distance light then a belt carry A2 would be my first choice. I would have loved to have a regulated E2E.

I have a white LED A2 and it has been my EDC for quite a while now (6+ months). I sold my E2e about a month ago--even if the A2 replaced it, it was still hard for me to part with a Surefire.

For my purposes the A2 works better than the E2e. I use the LEDs more and it's bright enough for what I need. I like having the incandescent handy if it's necessary and the two-stage switch (which I like a lot) is a quantum improvement over the cycling action of the Nuwai I have. I'm willing to live with the extra length of the A2 for increased functionality. No, the A2 isn't perfect, but at this time it best suits my needs for EDC.
