Hi all .
I am looking for a surefire for work possibly two .I'm in the UK and the work I do is mainly domestic boiler service, fault find/repair.
So I want something for close up work and something for looking in lofts and inspecting chimneys .Considering L1/E1B and L4/LX2.Or any suggestion would be much appreciated. Thanks

Im using L1 personally for my work (construction sites) and its been wonderful for the past 2yrs. Would have no problem recommending it in a heartbeat. An LX2 'might' be too powerful for close up work but would be good for distance inspection if you need any.

however if you need a handsfree light, you may want to consider a headlamp for practicality purpose. others would be able to advise better for this one.

You could save yourself some money and go with the LX2 and an F04 beam diffuser. This set up will cover all your needs and the F04 will give you a beautiful flood beam for the close up work.

Geezzzzzzz!..........What am I saying!

You should get both! It's the "flashaholic way". Just kidding!

I carry a L1 as my main EDC and it is the best IMO. I would also add a F04 to the L1. Just the best way to go. L1 is much more pocket friendly. If you want the throw just remove the F04 and you have decient throw. Should be enough for searching lofts and chimneys.

Both lights are fantastic the LX2 is just a little too big for EDC at least for me.

Do you own any other SureFires? One thing to keep in mind is the battery, and if you don't normally have CR123A around, it might be a good idea to look at the E2L AA, which takes alkaline, NiMH, or lithium AA batteries.

I would go with the LX2 with the L1 being my second choice. With either, I would definitely get an F04 beam diffuser to go with it. When I use to daily carry my E1B, I found myself using the high most often when needed during my work day. The low was just not bright enough for most tasks. I think that with the 10 lumen low on the L1 or 15 lumen low on the LX2, it would save you from having to always go to high.

I'm specialized/general contractor and I use my E1B extensively.
Absolutely love it. I like the F04 on it, just find it collects dust (literally).
