I just acquired a Surefire Z2. It has a bezel with a hexagonal antiroll ring like all recent C/P/Z series Surefire lights. But the window is pressed in like the bezels on the older round body 6P/6Z. Also like the old round heads, this bezel lacks a hot surface warning. The bezel is the same height as the round heads, slightly shorter (3-4 mm?) than the hex head found on my more recent P/C series lights. I've never seen a Surefire bezel like this. Does anyone know when Surefire used this design? For how long did they use it? Thanks.

I don't have specifics, but this bezel was standard for a short time - between when bezel where round/lexan and hex/Pyrex. It's sort of the missing link between them.

Thank you. I suspected it was something like that when I saw it. I've never seen one before this one. Now I have to decide whether to keep the light or catch and release as originally intended.

The main issue is that you can't upgrade with rings and lenses, but that lens looks perfect!

I've owned several of those...they are what they are...when you break your first SF glass lens and realize how important they are, then you'll see the real beaut....
