I have a KL1 head on my E1E-HA, but I noticed it looks different from the KL1 head on the Surefire website. I'm guessing mine is an older model? It has ridges instead of the teardrop shaped(?) cutouts. I like the ridges for grip, so I wouldn't get rid of mine, but what are the differences between the two? Was $50 an ok price for mine (I bought it before Christmas)?
By the way, I love this thing. With very used batteries it is brighter then my Inova X5. Quite amazing, and the beam behaves very close to an incandescant, not like the LEDs I am used to. It has become my EDC light. I especially like that I can use it as a headlight with a strap since it is so small and light.

Your KL1 is an older model. $50 was OK.

Paul,

Used or new KL1's of the older style went for anything between $30 and $60. If you like the beam and tint of the light, odds are that you got one of the more recent older models and it has a high dome emitter in it.

The KL1 is a killer addition to any light. You'll get good output with outstanding runtime.

high dome emitter?

It does have a very nice beam. It reaches farther and has more flood then the LEDs on my A2, it behaves a lot like an incandescant in that it has a hot spot in the center with lots of sidespill. My X1 is all spot and my A2 is all flood. The KL1 seems to have the best combonation. I really like it and carry it everyday now.
