I for one won't be buying one, I'm sick of custom pricing being applied to what are basically, production or "Mid-tech style" branded knives. I'll gladly spend good money on a full handmade or a known maker's studio crafted "Mid-tech"(Part machining, part hand worked), and even a fair amount of money on a production, but for the price of most "Mid-tech style" productions (usually means the blade bevels, fit and assembly were hand done), it ain't worth it. I am sure plenty of folks will get suckered into these. If you want titanium, framelock and SV-30 steel, the Dominator designed by Darrel Ralph for Camillus is a steal at around $150.
I think that Steve Ryan's custom work is already over priced at above $1200 a knife, for that I could get one hell of a beautiful custom by someone like Jay Hendrickson, hand forged 52100 steel differentially tempered blade, hand carved scales and silver wire inlay with an exotic leather sheath! Come to think of it I could get a Jim Hammond, Pat Crawford, Tom Anderson or any number of custom makers using some "mid-tech" type of manufacture for a third the price of a Ryan.
