Could someone tell me what throw you can expect from a Surefire M6.

John

200+ meters when pitch black.
Thats my experience anyway. It may trow further, it may throw shorter...

An M6 is impressive for its size & in true SF tradition has a great quality beam - here's a beamshot of mine in a smoke filled kitchen after a small fire!

Same Kitchen, far less smoke, but demonstrates the light output much better as you can see the bright centrespot on the window & the sidespill aura illimunating an otherwise pitch dark room! Perhaps someone else might have a pic that demonstrates the M6's throw, failing that I'll try & take
one for you.

Don't have any pics, but let me tell you....one time the lights went out in my dorm, and we played ping pong with it (shine it to the ceiling) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

And for throw, I flash it across a 200ish meter lake and can see my buddy over there right the way(he's wearing a bright white sweater though)

Wow! now that is a flashaholic!

This man sets his kitchen on fire to get a beamshot!

Agreed 6P, an M6 pointed skyward in some rooms gives as much light as the standard light fittings!

Double A, I did'nt set my kitchen alight onpurpose, in actual fact it was nothing more exciting than the timer getting stuck on the microwave oven & my 4 min TV dinner bursting into flames, but I stayed calm & got my priorities right, I've known people to get flustered in similar situations, extinguish the flames & completely overlook the oppurtunity to play with their low light tools amongst the acrid smoke!

Funnily enough you would'nt be to far wrong as you can feel the heat on your bare skin from 15 feet away!

Indeed AlphaTea, tho at the expense of my dinner that night!

Hey anyone want to buy a Microwave?

Go out for dinner? Considering how expensive restaurants were in London this January, I'd be eating TV dinners and saving money for Surefires.

Yeah you are not wrong about the price of restaurants over here! I've been to the US twice & was very impressed with the food - big portions & good food, even tho I'm a big eater, soon learnt NOT to order starters , with the exception of Nobu in NYC, that my girlfriend treated me too on my birthday one year, which WAS expensive even by London standards, tho having said that I'm sure London's Nobu is double in price!

Ok, I have decided to get myself an M6. Managed to convince the wife to advance my next two years allowance.
It was easier than I thought it might be , thanks to naromtap. Just showed her the pic of his microwave and told her we (well I mean me ) needed a powerfull light in case the same thing happened to us. Her initial comment was something like " what sort of bloody idiot are you ", but with charm and guile I pulled it of.
Don't you just love it when a plan comes together.

She says if she catches me putting tins in the microwave she'll kick my A** out the back door.

On a more serious note, should I consider getting spares for it.

Thanks for your help.

Yeah it's a good idea not to put tins in the Microwave John F! In my case it WAS a microwave dish but the timer got stuck! Your money would be better spent on a fire extinguisher for a situation like that & you could always use the wall light to help you see - don't tell your wife I said that lol. As for spares maybe a Blackhawk sheath to put your M6 in - I just received one from ODS today & its ideal! Oh yeah & maybe some spare batterries as your talking 20 mins runtime if your using the HOLA, I've got a SF SC2 spares carrier which holds 6 batteries & the other lamp assembly.
