I noticed that both of the Surefires that I recently purchased (E2E-SG and L4) have the threads flattened in a small facet at the Bezel end of the body. The tail cap threads don't have this small, faceted, flattened thread feature. The location of the flat area is in-line with the Pocket/Belt Clip. Is the flat thread area there as an artifact of clip installation access, or is it flattened there for some other reason? The anodizing has been done after the threads were worked flat. Had to be on purpose. Hmmmm?

Thanks

I went on the thinking of that it was for the clips. The flattened surface serves no other purpose but to make it easier to fit the shim and pocketclip into that groove.
