A buddy has a shotgun with a surefire mounted in the foregrip. It looks like an old 6P permenatly mounted into the frip (you unscrew the bezel to change batteries, touch pad on grip to turn on light)

he hasn't used the light in a looong time because the batteries were dead... so I say lets see, it's surely just 2 CR123As.

Well it was some funky surefire battery, white shrinkwraped cells -- a DL223AZ 6Volt.

Under the shrinkwrapping were 2 cells that are labeled Durecell DL2/3A... and they are connected togather with a little soldered wire.

Is this just an old fashion way to power a 6volt light? Can I just give him some new CR123As for this light?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

You can use 2 CR123's
Surefire has a Weapon light battery pack that is the one you described. It is supposed to be more recoil resistant. I have not had a problem with standard batteries

Just use the standard cheap 123a. If your buddy isn't a member of a special operations team or hasn't to defend himself with his shotgun 2-3 times a week, the DL223AZ would be a waste of money. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
