Anyone want to bet on when the Surefire site will even so much as mention the A2 and L1? These are the breakthrough products that will be the leading edge for their line . . . and their site says squat.

Even searching "A2", "L1", "Lumamax", or "Aviator" returns nothing.

Stealth marketing at its best . . . hide the product from your customers!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Its covered by a couple pages in their catalogue.

That may be, but I've requested their catalog four times now, (twice on website and twice by phone call) and so far, nothing. My first try was in November 2002, latest was last week.

I've been a great customer of theirs and just want to continue! If only they'd TELL me something about the products I'm interested in buying!

I ordered a SF E2e on friday from surefire direct (I know I paid more but I ordered six boxes of batteries also) and ordered the K1 led explaining to the salesman that I really needed both options, and he said nothing of the A2! Thats poor customer service. Since I new to this forum I had no idea that this unit was available and being shipped. I would have no idea of this unit without this great forum, although its bad for(I ordered six flashlights this week)my credit card balance its cheaper then my lust for fine optics. Question, should I cancel my SL E2e and order the A2?

Since the A2 is basicly the E2e but "better"...and it MUST, MUST I SAY!!, be close to shipping (this week) then if I was you I would drop the E2e and go A2 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks, but now I find out the A2's led is only 3lu vs the K1 at 15lu. The A1 is not a better led light and 10 lumens less in incandesent. Still waiting for that perfect light!

Safari there is a difference between the single 5mm LED's in the A2 and whats in the KL1,KL3 which is a Luxeon emitter (aprox.15-20 LEDs in brightness)if that what you are saying.
I might say the ultimate hi-lo LED light would or should consist of a 5watt and 1watt luxeon, one of 25lumens the other 120 or so lumens.

Let's suppose Surefire could stuff an LS into the A2, so instead of an incandescent plus 3 5mm LEDs, it's an incandescent plus an LS. Thinking about it, is that really a better light? Maybe, but ... I think one of the great things about the A2 is specifically that LED and incandescent mode are so different. If it was an LS and an incandescent, you'd have a bright incandescent that lasts an hour, or an LS that lasts 4 hours. That may be an interesting light. But in the current configuration, I get something like 1 hour versus 20 hours. In a power outage or whatever, I can burn the light all night long for two nights in a row, and 3 lumens is plenty for dark-adjusted eyes.

The hypothetical A2 with LS in it would be more expensive, bigger, and really, and because the outputs are so similar, you lose the advantage of having a tactical light and a super-long-burning emergency light wrapped up in one. Instead, you have bright or brighter, bigger, more expensive, not so much run time either way.

Yes but, I have on order just such a light from surefire ie E2e with K1. They seem to have sold quite a few of them. And why not copy wolf-eyes and put the led on the tail end?
