With regards to there being too much profit in the lamps - I'd love to see your figures (in a different thread perhaps?)

[/ QUOTE ]

I THINK he meant that too much profit would be lost by NOT selling the lamps for the older lights, not that there is too much being made on each lamp assembly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have the older GM E2 and it works fine for me. They're still around for sale if you look a bit but everything is going toward the E2e design.

by E series i meant the E2e and E2o as well. i highly doubt it will be discontinued, but the problems that plagued the E2e gave me the impression the E series might not be mature yet, unlike the C2 and all the other 6P derivatives that have been around for much longer.

i'm looking into getting a hard anodized E2 as a collectible though...i really like the look of the classic E series.

quickbeam: that's not quite it either, but thanks anyway /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif what i actually meant was that with such a huge customer base already relying on products that use the P60/P61 lamp assemblies, surefire would be strongly obliged to continue supporting these products by making sure replacement lamps are available, even if the P60 and P61s were sold for $5 each; i did not have profits in mind as a factor at all /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, now I've compounded the error... I think Al and I were referring to Paulr's post, not yours Chemenos, but thanks anyway.

I wouldn't worry about the e2 being discontinued and lamps drying up. There's too much profit in those lamps.

BigMac,

Since I didn't see if you're planning to carry the light on your person, you might want to consider the following.

I never thought much of the LOTC, until last night at work. I got into my car and noticed a bright light shining on the interior roof. You can probably see where this is heading, and yes, my 6P had been turned on somehow. The light has been updated with a LOTC anc I carry it in a SF basketweave leather holster with the LOTC turned just a hair past locking out. Unknown to me, it had been turned on and was nearly too hot to hold. I was shocked that the lens hadn't melted.

This was the first time in about fifteen years of carrying the light that this had happened. It never happened even when I didn't have the LOTC. Although SF now has cheap batteries, melting the lens and having a dead light at the wrong time would be annoying at best.

Just something to consider.

I think you need BOTH the G2 and E2e...for starters, that is.

Dave

quickbeam: sorry about that, was skimming through the posts when i replied. i feel rather stupid now /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif but anyway that was what went through my mind when i was deciding which 2-cell surefire to get.

I would love to. I guess I will have to find a job this summer (I am still in high school). I guess happiness (or a good light) does not come without sacrifices... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

your first check from a summer job should cover the exspense. i sacked groceries most summers. got to go outside and make tips. alot of exercise too.

Whooo hooo! I got a job maintaining a webpage for a local business. Before long I should be able to get these lights and post my opinions. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/buttrock.gif

Way to go BigMac you are on your way to full flashaholism, soon you will be up to your ears in quality lights. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

oh, and if you make money with a computer, make backups, backups, and extra backups and take them offsite. A CDR burnt weekly is a small expense to prevent redoing lotsa work. Not that I've learned this from experience, mind you /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Okay everyone,

I am seriously thinking of my very next Surefire purchase and what I have in mind is a C2-HA. Now, is that the next "step" for me to take, or should I wait for newer models to come out? I mean, I already have a E1e w/ KL1, and I'm pretty impress with the quality of this flashlight. Now I'm searching for a higher output w/ versatility Surefire flashlight. I'm even thinking of buying the KL3 to go w/ the C2. How different is the C2 compare to the C3 besides higher output? Is the M2 basically the same as the C2, except for the shock isolated bezel? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

ZEPH

Buy the C2-HA but wait for the KL-5 to appear on the market for it. Supposed to be brighter than the KL-3 and maybe put incans in the obsolete category from what the Surefire Propaganda Ministers are saying! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I may even have to break my self-imposed Surefire embargo when these hit the shelves. I do think the KL-3 has that cool "Frankensteins Laboratory" look with the cooling fin thing, going for it. HMMM maybe I should score one before they're discontinued? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/naughty.gif

The C2 is cool and classic. The M2 got 1 more bulb and 1 more o-ring apart from the S/I. Yeah get it and wait for the KL5. The KL3 looks real cool, that's why I got my self one the purplish beam really surprised me and i'm not sure you'll like it.

Can you use the SW02 tailcap for the C2 also? Does anyone have any experience with this particular tailcap? I think it would look really cool with the KL3.

ZEPH

ZEPH, I got 2 Charlie clickies(SW02) for my M3 and M2. It's way cool! It makes the light look better balanced. And it still has the moment on feature. The Z48 is the same except the look.

the C2 is the exact same light as the M2, just that the M2 has a SIS bezel, an extra O-ring on the tailcap-end of the barrel and it comes with the P61 lamp. i strongly suggest you get the C2 as it has both the grip ring and the pocket clip, and it has tons of accessories and will probably remain relevant as surefire releases new products /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
