Maybe I'm just overly suspicious, but I just received this email that appears to be from ebay. When I examine the header it shows it came from "SLC-EXF-01.corp.ebay.com ([209.63.28.12])." It is addressed to my main email address, but my understanding is that ebay will address you by name instead of just hello. Anyone else seen an email like this before? Would you say it is legitimate? I think what makes me suspicious is the note at the end about "eBay PowerSeller Trust & Safety." There is a ebay seller named Hampton on ebay, but they only have 10 feedback & have been suspended.

I didn't respond. Filled out the form on ebay to report it. I asked them if it was a real email from their company. Normally on the pfishing email I can see what they want right away. The only thing this seem seems to want is a valid email address. Maybe it's the first step. Maybe it's getting valid email addresses for spammers. It doesn't have any of the fake links in it like so many of the fakes do. It appears to either be a badly written letter from ebay, or a very well done fake.

I'm going to wait until ebay replies before I do anything.

i once saw on dateline or something like that saying how people would get emails like this except asked for their username and password for their ebay account saying that it would be suspended if they didn't. it was all a scam and alot of people got ripped off.
