Hi, some time ago someone on this forum asked about diving lights. I wanted to tell him about Suunto diving lights, but could not find any links although I am sure Suunto has made lights for diving some time ago. A few years ago a neighbour of mine, who has diving as a hobby, showed me a Suunto light.
I moved since then, so I can't ask him about it.

Has any of you ever heard about/seen a Suunto diving light?

pics please! :naughty:

thanks

If they did make them at some stage, they must have discontinued the line. I've just looked on their website and there's nothing about dive-lights there.

I couldn't find them at the Suunto website either, but I found some stores that still sell them.

For example this one (it's in Finnish, but there's a picture for you):
http://www.varuste.net/tuotetiedot2.asp?_prodid=1908&_tuoteryhmaid=3123&_omin1=0&_omin2=0&_omin3=0

According to the above link, it has three power levels and is fully regulated. The runtimes are:
72 min @ 50W
103 min @ 35W
143 min @ 20W

It's supposed to produce 1000 lumens when running at 50W. Another website that sells it says it has an Osram xenophot bulb and color temp of 3200K. It's rechargeable with NiMH battery of unkown capacity.

Sounds impressive, but then it should at that price.

Interesting. A run-time of 72 mins @ 50 watts means it would need a fairly chunky battery, so it is probably quite large. I'm not too surprised at the price. High-end dive-lights are not cheap.

"Finnlight F100" on google brings up some more pages, most of them in Dutch which I can't read. Nothing in English, as far as I can see.

Apparently there's also an F209 model too (20 watts).

Suunto Finnlight F100

* Xenophot lampje van 50W, 14,4V
* NimH accupakket
* Laadtijd 4 uur
* Lader 110-240V
* Dimbaar in drie standen
* Diepontladingsbeveiliging
* Batterijspanningsindicator

Ok, here we go:

Suunto Finnlight F100

The Suunto Finnlight F100 is the successor to the Navy 90. The F100 is, just like the Navy 90, an incredibly strong lamp with many features. The huge output of the overdriven 50W Xenophot bulb is dimmable in 3 levels.

At the rear panel, the lamp has been improved with pushbuttons to switch the light on and off. There is a separate lock out the switch to prevent accidental activation when the light is e.g. in a bag for transport.

Especially useful is the external charging jack. You don't have to open up the light for charging anymore.

The F100 has the following specifications:

* Xenophot 14.4V 50W bulb
* NiMH batterypack
* Charges in 4 hours
* 100-240V charger
* 3 brightness levels
* Protection against over discharging
* Batterylevel indicator

Hope this helps!

Thanks, MC - very odd that there is nothing about it in English. Outside of Finland, it seems to be on sale only in Holland. Have any Dutch diving equipment outlets reviewed it? It would be interesting to know more about it.
