Here's a weird one that happened to me today and I'm wondering if others have seen it -
I recently bought a Sylvania 23W dimmable CFL, the type with the dimmer knob built into the base of the bulb itself. I figured that a dimmer circuit that's built right into the ballast of the bulb is going to be more efficient and create less flicker than an external dimmer. Well it doesn't flicker but something strange happened today.
Last night for the first time since Ive had it, I turned it off while it was on a dim setting. Usually Its on full brightness when I turn it off. Anyway, it wouldnt turn on this morning - not on any dimmer setting.
So I removed it from the lamp, set it aside for awhile and then tried it again, and now it's working.
The only thing I can think of is a static charge buildup based on the setting it was at when it was turned off...? It doesn't seem to be mechanically intermittent. A close inspection of the base appears normal.
The model of the bulb is a CF23EL/twist/dimbase.
