Came across this and I found it interesting. Very long life (10,000hrs), 10watts and 100 or so lumens. My question would be would there be a problem with running this bulb in place of a 168? Probably will run a bit hotter for those 5 extra watts but I can't imagine overly hot. Interested in it for a bit brighter sid-markers both solid and turn signal on my econo-Lancer. Bulbrite makes them. They are specified as an accent lighting bulb and also used on RV's exterior and interior. 60-70lumen boost I think would be more noticeable without being obnoxious. Don't bash me too hard just curious.

10w is too hot for most side marker lights I can think of. There are even some where you have to be careful substituting a W5W or 168 for the original W3W or 194. Not a great many, but there are a few designs with the bulb very close to a low-melt plastic housing or lens. In most cases you can easily get away with putting a 6w, 85Lm 2886X or a 5w, 80Lm 3652 in place of a 194/W3W or a 168/W5W. But a 10w? Not advisable.

On the front side fenders on the lancer there is a sidemarker blinker. That is only on/operates when the turn signals are on. So I think I could get away with it there since it's only blinking and on briefly. But I will leave it out of constant on sidemarker applications.

No, it's a repeater blinker. The sidemarkers are the amber front and red rear side-facing lamps and reflectors that don't blink. The repeater would be fine with the 2886X bulb (unless it takes an amber bulb, in which case you need to stick with an amber bulb), but the 10w bulb would still be too much. I have seen a lot of repeaters meant for 3w or 5w bulbs melted by 8w bulbs.
