Tailcap Question

Hi all. I have an old maglite that I haven't used in a while. I have been reading some mod threads and am contemplating my first mod. When I took the tailcap off, I noticed some corrosion on the spring. What can I use to clean off the corrosion? Thanks!

What kind of mod are you considering? LED? Incan? You might not need the spring at all, or you might have to shorten/alter it. There is a good bit of resistance in that spring, many modders bypass it by soldering copper wire at each end. This , this and this are some examples of what others have done. Deoxit products are good for removing corrosion. Happy modding!
