Very nice job, I like this kind of mod.

A couple of questions, what battery pack did you use and what would be the minimum voltage required to run the MCE?

I need to find a tesco's that stocks these.

On the tesco direct website 4w is listed as SSCP4 LED and 3w as 3w cree LED .

Would like to find a store rather than online.

Nice mod. Did you look at modding the 4w?

Happy New Year !

Where is it best to buy the other parts from? I've used dotlight in the past, but they don't seem to have the MCE's on the base, just the chip by itself.

Also, would a 1000mA driver work? I have some left from my previous experiments.

Thanks,

Rob.

Yes and no. You're overdriving it slightly, but as long as the heatsinking is sorted it should be fine. However, you will notice reduced runtimes, but probably not much in the way of additional brightness.

Yet another question guys -.

So what would happen if you run the above 700mA buckpuck with 6AA's i.e.7.2V and the MCE wired 2S2P making a forward voltage of about 6 to 7V?

I'm guessing you require more battery voltage than 7.2V for the buckpuck to work?
