You may remember about two months ago I posted in this thread about my buddy matthew losing his L4 on a hike. Believe it or not, my dad and I went down to the area where he lost it today on a hike an found it! It has been sitting out on a road for about two months, and we have had over 30 in. of snow in the time between losing it and finding it, and it is still none the worse for wear. (other than being a little dirty) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh, what the heck, might as well post a pic of the park area where we were hiking too:

lol, that is a really great happy ending to that story.
Wow, thats amazing you found it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

That is really cool that you found it. Its amazing that no other hiker walked off with it. Surefires are well known and popular lights I think....

Thats awesome, he is lucky he has a friend like you /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif, I cant believe no other hikers had found it. I bet he was very surprised and happy to get it back. Give us the details as to where it was. Was it kind of buried?, and how far off the road was it?, also tell us what happened when you gave it back to him?, awesome..

It was kinda squashed into the mud, I think somebody may have inadvertantly run over it when the ground was kinda spongy after the snow melted. I can't wait to see his reaction when I give it back to him. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm glad you found the flashlight before some other hiker did. And if somebody ran over it and it appears none the worse for wear, I won't have to try and get mine run over. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

and people don't like black because it's hard to see when you drop it!
took me 20seconds to see the light in that first picture...

wow, i'll bet that was a happy moment! congratulations! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, we picked it up and pressed the button, and it worked the first try. I wasn't really surprised, I had waterproofed that L4 personally and have tested it several times so I was pretty sure it would be ok if we could find it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I will definately tell him to send that story to sf! I am sure they would love to have that on their site! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice! Glad to hear you guys eventually found the light /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just a question: how is the condition of the Pyrex? Any scratches?

Wow, nice! Thanks for the reply. Guess I don't need to baby my L4 then /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

An amazing story for an amazing light.

Glad the L4 was found! I've never lost a light other than inside my house but it must be real horrible feeling.
